Ontario PNP invites 668 immigration candidates in new Tech Draw

Ontario release new Tech draw on December 15, 2020. A total number of invitation 668 express entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.

Ontario PNP issued targeted notification of Interest to candidates who may qualify for the express entry human capital Priorities (HCP) stream. These candidates must have profiles in the federal express entry system.

668 leading applicants received notification of interest (NOI) from the Tech Draw. A comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score between 460 and 468 was required to invite express entry candidates. The candidates did not need to have a job offer, but they did need at least one year’s work experience in one of the following services or tech occupation:

  • NOC 0213 Computer and information systems managers
  • NOC 2147 Computer engineers
  • NOC 2172 Database analysts and data administrators
  • NOC 2173 Software engineers and designers
  • NOC 2174 Computer programmer and interactive media developers
  • NOC 2175 Web designers and developers

If they are awarded a nomination from Ontario, they will automatically award 600 additional CRS points on behalf of their overall CRS mark. These additional points effectively assert that they will later receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence (ITA) in the express entry draw. The same goes for a nominee under any Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in Canada.

This is the fifth tech draw of this year for Ontario. On July 29th, 2020 was the largest tech draw so far, when 1,288 express entry candidates were invited to apply for a provincial Nomination.

So far in 2020, Ontario has issued 9,082 invitations to its Human Capital Priorities Stream, French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream and Skilled Trades Stream.

How to get invited for an Ontario Tech Draw

The first step in becoming eligible for an invitation through the ONIP Tech draw is to create a profile in Canada’s express entry system.

Express entry is an application management system for three batch economic class immigration programs: Federal skilled worker Program, Federal skilled trades program and Canadian Experience Class.  Ontario’s Human Capital Priority Stream identifies candidates for the FSWP and the CEC.

Candidates are ranked according to the score Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) based on their age education work experience and language proficiency in English or French.

The OINP Tech draw draws from the express entry pool of candidates, inviting qualified tech worker from Ontario to apply for a provincial nomination.
